2011 Minnesota Junior All-Breeds Convention
The 2011 MJHA Convention was a complete success!
The Holiday Inn in St. Cloud was very willing to help us with any requests that we had and helped the board put on a very professional and fun convention. This year’s theme was Earn Your Spots in 2011 and a very special set Olympics were the highlight of the board skit. Friday night everyone arrived for registrations and the classic ice breaker games, along with a new favorite, dodge ball. Saturday morning we traveled to Virnig Farms in Pierz to tour their robotic milking facilities. Most of the members had never been to a robotic farm so eyes were wide and a lot of questions were asked.
After lunch, the competitions started. Quiz bowl teams and Jeopardy contestants lit up the buzzers while the speech contestants wowed the Judges with their quality and numbers. This year was the largest speech contest that MJHA has had in a long time so congratulations and thanks go out to everyone who participated in all of the contests. Saturday night was the formal dinner and awards banquet and once again this year we all proved that farm kids really do know how to clean up well. After dinner, the dance started and everyone had a great time to end another successful convention.
Sunday morning elections were held and the new Board members are Michael Schmitt, Amanda Carlson, Rachel Nelson, Jaden Albrecht and Ashley Swenson. The Board will be meeting on 5-13-11 to finalize next year’s convention location, but the preliminary is going to be in Willmar. Thanks again to everyone who helped make this year’s convention so much fun and hope to see all of you and your friends next year!
