Minnesota State Red & White ShowRed and White breeders from all areas of the state gathered in Willmar at the Kandiyohi County Fairgrounds on August 7, 2009 to compete in the Minnesota Red and White State Show. Judge Larry Tande, Medford, Minn. placed the one bull, 27 heifers and 22 cows for a total of 50 animals exhibited at the show. Judge Tande named four-year old Jerland Kite Nissa-Red, exhibited by Lawrence Jerome, Reid Stransky and Dykshorn Holsteins, as senior champion female and top bred and owned of the show. Second place four-year old Platte-Vu Advent Sara-Red, exhibited by Ryan and Karen Griffin, was named reserve senior champion. For intermediate champion and best udder of the show, the honors went to senior two-year old, Silvermine Adv Tally-Red-ET, exhibited by Dylan Ober. First place senior three-year old, Fier-View A Siera-Red-ET, exhibited by Joe Fier was selected as reserve intermediate champion of the show. In the final selection for grand champion, Judge Tande chose intermediate champion, Silvermine Adv Tally-Red-ET. Reserve grand champion honors were awarded to senior champion, Jerland Kite Nissa-Red. From the field of 27 high-quality heifers, first place spring yearling, Lichty-Acres Madison-Red exhibited by Lyndon Lichty was chosen as junior champion and first place winter calf, Jerland Redlnr Noela-Red-ET, exhibited by Lawrence Jerome and Reid Stransky was chosen as reserve junior champion. Scha-Way-SF Rmpg Luv-Red, exhibited by Jacob Schaefer and Quentin Scott and Bemboom-Acres T Rita-Red-ET, exhibited by Quentin Scott, Brook Hackett and Kayley Lain were named junior champion and reserve junior champion of the junior show, respectively. The senior and grand champion of the junior show was the four-year old, Le-Ro-Da JJ M Rosa-Red, exhibited by Ross Dankers. Reserve senior and reserve grand champion of the junior show was the junior three-year old Havencrest Rampage Lust-Red, exhibited by Jacob Schaefer and Quentin Scott. Junior exhibitors also had the opportunity to participate in a showmanship contest. In the junior division first place honors were given to Dylan Ober and in the senior division to Kelsey Buss.
