District Shows / Midwest Fall National / State R&W ShowVONBURG MAROON NINA NAMED GRAND CHAMPION OF MINNESOTA STATE SHOW LITCHFIELD, Minn. – The 2009 Minnesota State Holstein Show was held June 18-19 at the Meeker County Fairgrounds in Litchfield. The Meeker County Holstein Association hosted the two-day event with the theme, “Holsteins Shine in 2009.” With three bulls, 104 heifers and 99 cows for a total of 206 head, the show proved to be a very high-quality show from top to bottom. Judge Mark Rueth from Oxford, Wis., started the show at 5 p.m. Thursday night, June 18 with the bull and dry cow classes. The show continued the next morning at 8 a.m. with heifer classes followed by cow classes. Senior champion and grand champion of the 2009 Minnesota State Holstein Show was Vonburg Maroon Nina, first place aged cow. Vonburg Maroon Nina is owned by Brittany Albrecht, Triple A Holsteins, Stewart. Judge Rueth praised Nina for her tremendous frame and overall balance. Reserve senior champion and reserve grand champion was awarded to first place five year old, Macland Durham A Stacie. Stacie is owned by William A. McFarland, Macland Holsteins, and was also named best udder of the show and top bred and owned. Intermediate champion went to the first place senior two-year old, Jen-D Devil Tiffany-Red, owned by Jeni Dingbaum and Reid Stransky, Owatonna. Tiffany was also named reserve top bred and owned of the show. Reserve intermediate champion honors were awarded to the second place senior two-year old, Budgon Jergens Strmy Sky-ET, owned by Robert Jergens and Jaren Howe, Hutchinson. From the 104 heifers, Judge Rueth awarded junior champion to first place fall calf, Lake-Prairie Kite Anika-ET, owned by Reid Stransky and Rottinghaus Woods, LLC, Owatonna. Reserve junior champion was given to first place spring yearling, Crescentmead Kit Bailey-ET, owned by Aaron Thompson, Nicollet. Grand champion bull was given to first place senior yearling bull, Elgin-Rice Aspen Brigadier, owned by Jeff Pearson, Conrad Kvamme and Lonnie Zemlicka, Angora. Judge Rueth chose first place bull calf, Mr Blondin Dundee Blast-ET, owned by Neil Rickeman, Floralawn Holsteins, for reserve grand champion bull. Taking first in the Golden Gopher Futurity XXXIII was Kingsmill St Renaissance-ET owned by Joe and Reid Stransky, Stranshome, Owatonna. Second in the class was Havencrest Durham Ella, owned by Scha-Way Holsteins, Little Falls, and receiving the third place banner was Macland Advent Juliet-Red, owned by Scott Culbertson and James McFarland, Elgin. Earning premier breeder banner was Macland Holsteins, Elgin, Minn. and premier exhibitor banner went to Stranshome, Owatonna, Minn.
